Artists for the Year 2019-Winner-Sreelatha

Sreelatha, an Engineer by education, is a freelance artist based in Bengaluru. Her passion for art made her quit a successful Engineering career spanning many years and take up Art full time. Her exciting journey henceforth has been exploring different forms of Art and Design.

A happenstance meeting with some naturalists/wildlife artists introduced her to art and nature in a new light and made her start appreciating even the smallest of wonders.

Although she didn't have a formal training in art, with her passion towards the field and the desire to pursue art professionally, she is getting mentored by her artistic role-models.

Apart from portraying nature she has inclination towards figure drawing, portraits, architecture, folk forms and traditional murals, doing illustrations in her pastime.

She was part of the recent event of AWN, ‘Artists for Birds’ and won ‘Best of the show’ award.


She works with Oils, Acrylics, Charcoal, Graphite, Gouache and Indian Ink. Her style of work is Realism.



Student Category Winner 2019-Neha Sathish

Neha Sathish is a student of DPS Bangalore North, 10th Grade. Apart from her studies, she attends art classes at Sai Krupa The Art Studio in HRBR layout, under the guidance of Smt. Kavitha Chauhan.

She is also regular with weekly guitar classes and thinks that arts and music must be part of life no
matter what. A lover of all of nature’s colors, she finds great joy in capturing its beauty and visiting new places.




Mammal Category Winner 2019-Nidhi Manjunath

Nidhi’s passion and commitment to wildlife spans back to the year 2012. Her Forte` lies in painting the wild habitat in its freshest form and her love for vibrant contrasting colors further pins her interest to wildlife. She believes that the eyes are the windows to ones soul and in her paintings she focuses upon the eye of the individual in an attempt to communicate the emotion and personality of her subject. Nidhi is popularly known as a Soft Pastel Artist but she does not restrict herself to a single medium and uses a combination of one or more mediums.

Nidhi supports wildlife conservation efforts in the state of Karnataka. Sale of her paintings and other products from her wildlife gift shop have raised funds for the Mariamma Charitable Trust, Bandipur.






Avian Category Winner-Prerna Gupta

Prerna is a natural history artist focusing on the avian population of India. Mostly working with watercolours and colored pencils, her work is being increasingly sought after by resorts and birding enthusiasts. A firm believer in the power of nature and creativity to help lead a more mindful life, she also hopes to encourage more people to engage with the wildlife around through her art.




Open Category Winner-Sanskruti Naik

Sanskruti Nakul Naik, born and brought up in the lush green village of Mencurem in Bicholim of Goa state. Completed B.F.A. in Applied Art from Goa College of Fine Arts of Goa University in 2016. From the childhood, likeness for painting, has made her to take interest in the subject. 

Presently, working as Art Instructor at Bal Bhavan Center in Keri Sattari imparting skills of drawing, painting, among the member school children of the rural areas.  Involved in the initiatives of Environment Education and Awareness of Vivekananda Environment Awareness Brigade, Keri through the street plays and cultural performances. Take parts in cycling, trekking and hiking activities.




Sculpture Category Winner-Umesh Prasad

Umesh Prasad was schooled in Bishop Cotton Boy’s School, Bangalore and later graduated as an Industrial Engineer from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore University in the year 1984.
After a stint with Brooke Bond India Limited (a Unilever company) he later moved into a career in 

Advertising and Visual Merchandising.  He has also taught Advertising , Corporate Communications and Public Relations, Advertising Art & Production as a guest faculty in various prestigious institutions in Bangalore.

Umesh Prasad is a self taught artist and sculptor for whom exploring subjects, mediums, materials and techniques has been a never ending quest.  Having been an ardent crafter and artist since childhood, he constantly tries to innovate, adapt and express himself through various mediums.

Now, as a full time artist, Umesh Prasad’s work includes subjects from his pet passions such as music, nature, wildlife and spirituality.



Landscape Category Winner-Pratima Kumar


 Nature has myriad facets. The flowing rivulets, the sounding cataracts, the dancing winds, the smiling flowers and the lofty mountains are only some of these beauties. It evokes the whole gamut of human emotions and fills our life with real joy & happiness and this is where Pratima Kumar, draws her inspirations for her paintings. She is an accomplished artist who has passion to bring abundance of nature to the canvas. She works in various mediums to bring fore the beauty of the nature but her favorites are pallet knife & watercolor paintings.

Born & brought up in the capital city of Jharkhand, Ranchi, she was fascinated to painting since her early age. She completed formal education in fine art from Rabindra Bharati University along with her bachelor degree in Mathematics.

She was invitee at “International Water Color Festival” held by Jharkhand Govt. & attended by eminent artist from India & four other countries.
