AWN Frequently asked questions!
Frequently asked questions while submitting portfolios for
the AWN Artshows
·
What is
artists portfolio?
Artists portfolio consists of a short writeup about you and
what you do. Why you make nature art or art in general. This is sort of an
artist statement which gives the jury insight about you and your personality.
Portfolio also consists of 4-5 artworks, these artworks may be related to
nature or any other subject. Here the jury are looking for your composition
skills, mastery of the medium and creativity.
An artist's portfolio is an edited collection of their best
artwork intended to showcase an artist's style or method of work. A portfolio
is used by artists to show employers their versatility by showing different
samples of current work. Typically, the work reflects an artist's best work or
a depth in one specific area of work.-Source from Wikepedia!
Tips: Please
submit 4-5 of your recent good quality artworks, rather than submitting works
that are a decade old!
· Can i
send images clicked by my phone?
Since most of the ratings are done based on the images sent
by the participants, the call is completely left to the participants. Chances
of rejection due to bad quality images are higher when we submit bad quality
images. Please check this below link on how to click images of your artworks: https://www.agora-gallery.com

your artwork after they are completed!

not be considered for submission and will be straight away rejected without any
further explanation!
·

already have my portfolio, should i submit them again for the upcoming show?
Jury or the coordinator have no clue if every artists would
be interested in the upcoming shows, hence it would be good practice to submit
the required details with updated portfolios. You might have a recent achievement/
show/ news article etc that you want to
mention in the write-up about you.
Tips: Coordinator
or jury are not mind readers! Please do
submit your updated details and your interest to participate in the show, you
don't want to miss out on your recent achievements in your write-up, don't you?
Keep your portfolios updated!
· My
portfolio got rejected last time i submitted for a show, can i submit my new
works again?
Please do summit again if you have worked on a new style of
work or if you have improved artworks from your previous submissions. Since
every artshow is different and what the jury is looking for in every artshow
might change.
Tips: If you have doubts about your artworks and
its quality, always check with artists who you admire, artists who are willing
to help you out, artists who have already reached the levels you thrive to
reach someday. Before submitting artworks for any artshow, this is a great
practice one might follow to avoid any potential rejections.
Rejections are part

·
Can i
submit artworks of species which are from outside India?
Answer is no,
currently we want to showcase and encourage nature artists to document our own
species which need our attention!
Tips:
My humble opinion, let the artists in their own continents capture their native
species, give every artist the chance they deserve to showcase their native
species, they have seen these species from birth and are passionate about them. If you are still passionate about species from other continents experience them first hand, watch them study them and then make art about them, this brings authenticity to your artworks.
Know your own native species well, if you don't
know read about them, there are various resources about them. Or else seek for
help with the experts in that particular field.
·
Can you
explain more about the selection process?
Selection of artworks or portfolio mainly depends on 3
factors,
- Composition
- Mastery of the medium
- Creativity
If your artworks consists of all the above factor then most
likely it will be selected, if not then you will have to work on your craft and
make effort to improve.
Tips: There is simply no shortcuts to quality,
we will have to put in the lonely hours in the studio to bring out good quality
artworks. How artists produce quality artworks, they put in the long hours working
on their craft.
Discipline is essential creative field, set
daily goals, weekly goals, monthly goals. Work on these goals.
·
